The Committee against Torture holds its 77th session from 10 to 28 July 2023.
On the occasion of the review of Switzerland by the Committee against Torture at this session, FIACAT and ACAT Switzerland, together with the Platform of Swiss Human Rights NGOs, have submitted a joint alternative report on the implementation of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment in Switzerland.
FIACAT and ACAT Switzerland particularly wished to bring to the attention of the experts of the Committee against Torture their concerns regarding the absence of an autonomous criminalisation of torture in national law and the absence of independent investigation and prosecution mechanisms for cases of police violence.
