Shadow Game Project

FIACAT & Shadow Game

Every day, teenagers flee their war-torn countries and attempt to cross the borders of Europe in search of protection and a better life. They travel through a dark world of minefields, wild bears, fast-flowing rivers, smugglers and border police. The 'game' refers bitterly and ironically to their attempts to cross borders. Shadow Game is a journey to the dark side of Europe, with teenage refugees as our guides.

Shadow Game

A transmedia project accessible to all audiences

  • A feature length documentary (90 min)
  • Short follow-up portraits of unaccompanied minors
  • A photo exhibition
  • A musical album
  • A manifesto
  • An adventure game

Throughout their journey and in their country of destination, these young people are victims of torture and ill-treatment, whether during the pushbacks they suffer at the borders of Europe or because of the reception conditions they face. This treatment of unaccompanied minors by European states is in direct violation of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

By associating itself with the Shadow Game project and thanks to the financial support of the European Union, FIACAT wishes to raise awareness among European citizens on the torture suffered by these children in order to demand that the European authorities ensure their protection.
