The death penalty violates the most fundamental human right, the right to life and is the ultimate form of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.

There is no conclusive evidence of the death penalty’s deterrent value and any miscarriage or failure of justice in the death penalty’s implementation is irreversible and irreparable.

Some legal texts prohibit the use of the death penalty, some others limits its scope.
