France and Democratic Rep. of Congo reviewed by the Committee against torture, November 2005

The Committee Against Torture held its 35th session in Geneva, from 7 to 25 November 2005.

States, in which an ACAT exist, that had to submit a report on the application of the Convention against Torture were :

The examination by the UN Committee Against Torture of the third periodic report of France took place the 17th and 18th November 2005.

This report has been presented with a 6 years delay.

FIACAT assisted ACAT France during this session where they presented a Counter report.

- Comments by the Government of France on the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee against Torture

Democratic Republic of Congo

The examination by the UN Committee Against Torture of the initial report of Democratic Republic of Congo took place the 21th and 22th November 2005.

FIACAT represented ACAT DRC during this session and transmitted its concerns on the situation of torture and ill-treatment in the country to the Committee’s experts.
