March 2014

[English] [français]

FIACAT transmitted, on 31 March 2014, a report of 1 500 words to the Secretary General of the United Nations on the situation of the death penalty in 2013 to help him prepare his Annual Report to the UN Human Rights Council.

Developed following a consultation of all ACAT members of its network, this document aims to inform the United Nations Secretary-General about the application of the death penalty since April 2013 in certain African countries where members of the FIACAT network are active (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Mali and Chad) as well as the activities of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

FIACAT is a member of the steering committee of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
