[CAT] FIACAT and ACAT France concerns/adoption of the list of issues

November 2009

[English] [français]

Concerns of ACAT France and FIACAT with regard to torture and ill-treatment in France presented to the Committee against Torture with a view to scrutiny of the 4th to 6th periodic reports by France 44th session, 26 April – 14 May 2010.

The International Federation of Action by Christians for the Abolition of Torture (FIACAT) and its member association in France, ACAT France, would like to draw the attention of the experts of the Committee against Torture to a number of concerns with regard to torture and ill-treatment in France.

On 18 February 1986, France ratified the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. Under Article 19 of the Convention, the 4th, 5th and 6th periodic reports were due on 25 June 2008. They were submitted on time on that date.
