Africa Regional Seminar - Bujumbura (Burundi) – December 2006

The Africa Regional Seminar, held in Bujumbura (Burundi) from 11 to 15 December 2006, brought together 26 delegates from 13 African Francophone ACATs (Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, Côte d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Mali, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Togo, Chad).
The theme of the seminar in 2007 was "The prohibition of torture: a principle in Danger", which was treated with particular reference to the Implementation of Robben Island Guidelines in Francophone Africa.

The seminar was organized in partnership with the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT).

The main focus was the fundamental role of civil society and specifically ACATs for the implementation of the Robben Island Guidelines.
