The 43rd Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights took place from 7 to 22 May 2008 in Ezulwini (Kingdom of Swaziland)

The Commission had considered including the periodic reports of States following:
 Periodic Report of the United Republic of Tanzania.
 Periodic Report of the Republic of Sudan.
 Periodic Report of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

To assist the Commission in its work, FIACAT and ACAT DRC prepared an alternative report on the situation of torture and inhuman and degrading treatments in DRC, including information on prison conditions in the East of DRC.
