FIACAT helps human rights defenders, and more specifically members of the ACATs, to be in a position to change and influence attitudes and structures in their countries. Enabling stakeholders at local level to become familiar with laws and regulations on the prevention of torture encourages exchanges between civil society and the authorities of the country concerned, thereby helping to prevent and reduce the occurrence of acts of torture and ill-treatment.
FIACAT organises training sessions and regional and international meetings in order to give those working in the field of human rights an opportunity to exchange their experiences and build on their skills and knowledge.
On a national level, many ACATs also organise training sessions. Please feel free to contact them for more information - you will find their details under "ACAT Network"
