The International Organization of la Francophonie (IOF) has been working with civil society organizations for several years to implement its activities; NOGs are consulted and involved, on a regular basis, in the implementation of some of its programs.
In 2009, 63 international NGOs and other civil society organizations were accredited to the International Organization of la Francophonie; FIACAT was accredited by the IOF in 2005.
A ten-year strategic programme was adopted by the Summit of Heads of State and Government of La Francophonie in 2004 in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso); it defines the four main missions of la Francophonie for the period 2005 to 2014:
A. Promote French language and linguistic and cultural diversity;
B. Promote peace, democracy and human rights;
C. Support education, training, higher education and research;
D. Develop cooperation for sustainable development.
FIACAT participates in the mission B "Promoting peace, democracy and human rights."
